MAPLEL LEAF VIBURNUM
Viburnum acerifolium
This native viburnum, characterized by large and delicate leaves shaped like the maple, is regal in appearance.
In the late spring, the bush is covered in extraordinarily beautiful lace-like flower clusters whose nectar draws
a variety of bees and other pollinators eager to sip their nectar. Berries form during the height of summer,
first green, then bright red, and finally coal black as summer ends. Finches and wrens love to feast on the ripe
fruit. The Maple Leaf Virburnum prefer shade and grow to 3-4 feet tall and about 3 feet wide. They tolerate
heavy pruning to maintain a desired shape. The maple leaf foliage is olive green all summer. In the later
summer days thru fall the foliage is painted in hues of light burgundy and fluorescent pink. Plants grow in
most soil types that are well drained and cold tolerant to USDA zones 4 to 8.
