Amethyst
A cold tolerant, non-suckering purple raspberry for zone 1. Tested along the east side of
Chena River in Fairbanks, Alaska. The strong canes and flower buds survived and produced high yields
as it would in warmer climates. In Fargo N.D., the first berries begin ripening in mid – July and finish
with the last harvest 6 weeks later.
Harvest fruits when reddish – purple to almost black – best flavor and firmness is at mid-ripening and
will store up to 7 days at 40 F. The average fruit size is 5/8 inch diameter, with some larger up to 1 inch.
The plants have high vigor with moderately thorny branches, trellising is recommended.
Hardiness zone 1 to 7.
