The fruits of this Elderberry are sweeter and larger than other cultivars. The plants are vigorous and productive. This cultivar can be mowed to the ground after dormancy and fruits can be harvested in the following year on primocane stems. Yields are high, and plants appear to have some resistance to Japanese Beetle. Hardiness Zones 4-8.

We decided to plant an elderberry grove this spring. After taking a class on elderberry cultivation, we settled on 4 varieties, Bob Gordon, Wyldewood, Ranch and Wild/native cultivars from both our home state of TN and NC. I’ve been impressed with the growth of all of the varieties we purchased. The elderberries we received from Hartmann’s came in great condition and took off like wildfire once planted. Highly recommended and looking forward to a good harvest of these beautiful berries next year!
