Georgia Red is a floricane type red raspberry. It is an excellent choice for tunnel growing, commercial planting, u-pick farms, and home gardens. The fruits are of light color, cohesive, east to detach and firm, making the variety ideal for any raspberry grower. Growth is moderate to vigorous, with canes growing an average of 6 feet and taller, if growth in crowded conditions, such as tunnel growing. The canes are cold – tolerant to -20 F. in the Mid-Atlantic region fruits begin ripening in early June, just 30 days after pollination. The plants have demonstrated resistance to phyophthera root rot, verticilum wilt, and anthracnise in field trials. The medium to dark red fruits are easily harvested. The stems are free from thorns and spines. This variety is ideal for any commercial grower or gardener. They will grow successfully in USDA Zones 5-7, and they tolerate high temperatures.
