Also known by another name, Violette du Bordeaux, Negrone fig plants are shorter-statured than most other fig varieties. Height at maturity reaches 3 to 4 feet; an excellent choice for patios or outdoor container growing in cold climates. The outer skins of the ripened, large fruits appears deep purple to almost black. The inside flesh is ruby red and honey sweet, some say the best tasting of all figs. Zones 7-10

We purchased 10 of these in our order this spring and every single one is still alive and thriving! You can imagine my surprise when, in late summer, we noticed little figs forming on the now over 3′ tall plants. We were fortunate enough to harvest a few ripe ones and oh my goodness were they amazing! I’d recommend Hartmann’s to anyone (and have!) Super happy with everything we received this year!

We are really happy with these figs and are getting a lot of enjoyment from giving so many people the chance to taste a fresh, ripe fig for the first time. The Negrone are a more compact fig and do well in 5 gallon containers.
