Highbush type cultivar. The plants grow upright to a mature height of 5 feet. Ripening of the fruits is very early, approximately 3 days before Duke. Yield is slightly less than Duke varying 8 to 15 pounds per plant.
The fruits are medium size 1.8 to 2.3 grams, which is larger than most commercial early and midseason cultivars. The berries are an attractive light blue, excellent firmness, and fine flavor. The sugar brix are high compared to other leading early and midseason cultivars. The fruits can be stored for longer periods of time compared to other early cultivars.
Fruits are marketed commercially for the early fresh market because of the high flavor and quality. The early variety is also an excellent choice for Commercial growers and U-Pick growers. The fruits are formed in loose clusters with uniform ripening. With these attributes and fruit firmness, the plants can be harvested mechanically.
The fruits should be marketed as fresh fruits because of the earliness, flavor, firmness, and attractive color. The pink tinged flower petals make Hannah’s Choice an excellent landscape plant. Plants are very upright, vigorous, with orange to burgundy fall foliage. Hardiness Zones 5-7.
