Grow Guide

PLANT USES: Mainly used as a fresh fruit, which is popular in European countries. The fruits are used in marmalades, jellies, and even just as dessert decorations on the side of the dinner plate.
WATER REQUIREMENTS: Keep plants moist during the first two years to encourage growth. After the first 2 years plants will not need as much water because the roots will be well established in the soil.
FERTILIZER REQUIREMENTS: Optimum amounts of fertilizer should be used to grow the plants fast to the wires. Nitrogen at the rates of 100 ppm injected through drip irrigation daily can be used or apply granular Ammonium Nitrate, Calcium Nitrate or Ammonium Sulfate. In early spring, apply small amounts of any Nitrogen fertilizer to the plant using 1 ounce per plant every 2 weeks according to soil tests. The first 3 years are critical to apply the much needed Nitrogen because the 2 or 3 stemmed growth needs to grow fast up the trellis in order to produce a crop the third or fourth season after planting.
