Description
ALLEGHENY SPURGE
Pachysandra procumbens
An excellent shade loving ground cover. The large leaves will create a solid mass of green ground cover and will remain evergreen in milder climates. For a three week period in early spring, 6 to 12 inch flower spikes appear with creamy to pure white colors. After the flowers are finished, stems of new leaves burst out of the ground, creating a beautiful ground cover.
The leaves are ovate and have cut edges on the end of each leaf, very ornamental and oriental in appearance. The plant will thrive in shade and partial shade. They are recommended in a mass planting or as rock garden plants as this U.S. native is non evasive. Hardiness Zones 3-9.
