IVAN’S BEAUTY
Sorbus aucuparia x Aronia melanocarpa
Ivan’s is a hybrid cross made by Ivan Michurin, one of Russia’s famous plant breeders. The tree resembles the Ash tree in wispy branch growth with elegant strength of stature. The fruits resemble the size and shape of the Aronia berry a nutrient rich fruit. Clumps of pure white flowers surrounding each stem are an outstanding display every spring.
In the late summer, fruits ripen to a deep malbec wine red color. Use the fruits to blend with any fruit or berry to add color and more nutrition to the drink. The nutrient rich fruits are edible but not as enjoyable as other berries, so blend the nutrition with other fruits. The tree is very adaptable to soil types and locations of full sun to partial shade. Our plants are not grafted and will grow successfully in Hardiness Zones 3 to 9.
